How to Read Torch & Tinder Press
Welcome! Torch & Tinder Press is an independent publisher for cultural resistance. We make books and zines that help people remember, resist, and rebuild — released in free community editions for all, with print editions (coming soon) of our Core Collections that sustain the work.

Our Lanes
📣 Signal Dispatch — Signals from the field
Signal Dispatch is our current-events and announcements lane: short essays, reflections, and updates that track the pulse of cultural resistance. Each dispatch signals what’s happening now—whether in politics, community struggles, or our own projects—and connects it to deeper patterns of freedom, resilience, and memory. This is where we surface urgent questions, spotlight partner efforts, and keep the press accountable to its role as a living signal flare in darkening times.
Signal Dispatch Monthly is coming soon.
🔧 Torchlight Praxis — Tools you can carry
Torchlight Praxis is our practical lane: frameworks, guides, and methods you can put to work right away. From how-to pieces and field-tested strategies to reflections on craft and community practice, each entry equips readers with tools they can adapt in their own contexts. Praxis is about carrying knowledge forward—not as abstract theory, but as gear for survival, resilience, and freedom. If Signal Dispatch tells you what’s happening, Torchlight Praxis helps you respond.
Torchlight Praxis Monthly is coming soon.
🔥 Embers — Warmth for the long winter
Embers is our cultural and creative lane: essays, art, poetry, fiction, and critical reflections that sustain us through long nights of struggle. Embers is where we explore meaning, beauty, and imagination as essential parts of resistance. It is warmth, but also spark: a reminder that culture itself is a battleground, and that tending the embers of human freedom keeps the torchlight burning.
The first print and digital edition of Embers Quarterly arrives later this fall.
Core Collections
Every Torch & Tinder title is a companion — meant to be used, shared, and adapted. Community editions are always free; print and supporter editions keep the fire alive.
Field Guides
What Are We Supposed to Do? — A practical guide for everyday people who refuse to be bystanders. It offers strategies for cultural resilience, long-term resistance, and reclaiming agency in a moment when democratic norms unravel and truth itself becomes a battleground.
Memoranda
How to Lose Everything Without Even Trying — How democracy unravels not with a single coup, but slowly, in plain sight, while people convince themselves “it won’t happen here.” A step-by-step map of erosion: institutions, trust, and resistance.
Embers From Ashes — A call to stand for freedom in a forgetful world. Authoritarianism advances piece by piece while most wait for balance to return. We’ve seen this story before — and can’t sit back.
If the Writ Falls — An emergency readiness guide and cultural call to action. What happens if habeas corpus, the oldest safeguard of liberty, is suspended? Freedom is not a static right but a practice renewed daily.
Handbooks
So, You’ve Elected an Autocrat — Coming soon. A handbook for freedom in authoritarian times. It helps readers understand shifts in democracy, build resilience, and take practical action through reflection, solidarity, and community engagement.
Community Quests
Coming soon. Hands-on, shared projects that strengthen local networks and cultural resistance.
